I understand the octahedral splitting energy of metal ions will change relative to its barycenter for different ligands. I want to know if different ligands (as well as different coordinations) will change that barycenter energy? How is barycenter energy determined?

For example, [Fe(H2O)6]3+ has smaller crystal field splitting than [Fe(CN)6]3+, but how do their barycenters compare?
