Does the band gap increase with the decrease in the size of the particle and difference between band gap and ionization energy?
The band gap is inversely proportional to the distance between ions. The larger the distance, the weaker the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions. Less tightly bound electrons and a smaller bandgap.
