S.aureus is often cultured on Congo Red plates to test ability to produce slime. Congo Red binds strongly to cellulose and other polisaccharides with beta 1-4 linkage. Does S.aureus produce cellulose? If it is different polisaccharide with 1-4 linkage do You know something about it?
