Hi,

I am using a scale to test on a population of 1,000, but I have re-worded some of the questions to make them simpler, and I will need to have these translated into Spanish. I would like to pilot test the questionnaire before administering it to my sample, and I understand best practices would be to administer the re-worded questions with the original scale, and test for reliability and validity. I am concerned about using the recommended 100 (10%) of my participants on my population, as I know that I cannot use the pilot data with the final data. Can I use a representative sample to do the pilot testing, or do I have to use the same sample?

Thank you for any thoughts on any of this process...
