I know that molecular hydrogen produced from fossil-based resources, such as natural gas/ crude oil is used in Haber process to produce ammonia, which goes to fertilizer applications. Does that mean the hydrogen originating from crude oil ends up in the food chain via fertilizer applications in farming?

Anyone aware of any study or any books chapter or any article that can explain this chain of hydrogen production and consumption? I am trying to look at the entire life-cycle of fossil-based hydrogen.

Thanks!
