Until now, our team tried four times to breed this species (during July-October), however we failed every time. Hormone-injected fish stripped successfully but no fertilization observed in all the trials.
I think, May is the best time. It spawned only in running system, with the rearing tank temperature between 27 and 32 degree Celsius. For more details please see the attached file.
Dear J.C.Tarafdar, thanks for your answer, but it created more questions in my mind.
- Why the fish don't respond to produce mature gametes even in conditions of indoor facility with the constant light regime, temperature, etc.? Why just May!
- Do they just spawn in running water system (semi-artificial method), and we cannot artificially breed them, i.e. via dry stripping method?
