Due to innovation is weaker in China than other country, I thirsty want to explore the reasons, meanwhile art is weaker in China during recent several hundreds years, could you sharing thinking and opinion about both art and innovation?thanks a lot!
Art reflects innovation. Art is never a picture perfect of an individual's vision, it resembles a reality from virtuality. Artists are supposed to be good dreamers, so that they can bring the best within them to an exhibited state. Further dream state encompasses many unimaginable opportunities and possibilities challenging the status quo. Our (ex) President of India Dr.APJ.Abdul Kalam, asked youngsters and children to dream.

We do not know what the exact function of art is for society. Most ordinary people have often the feeling that art has no function at all. As an art researcher, I see the issue a bit different, of course. Art is always a reflectance of Zeitgeist streams, art often show things people are interested and things for which they feel the need to reflect on it; sometimes it is about political issues, about the distribution of power, on societal issues, sometimes about life experiences, events or just about a percept. Particularly interesting for a kind of feedback of current streams is of course contemporary art—and contemporary art is also often AGAINST some streams, or at least, reflects of it, so is CRITICAL about such streams. In this way, (contemporary) art is a kind of power that reflects, sometimes criticizes, and probably also regulates current and ongoing streams in the society. By implication, this means that if contemporary is weak, low innovative, stabilized, saturated etc. it won’t play this important societal role. But all this is generally said, as we do not have valid measures for innovation of art, but we might have some indicators, for instance the similarity of art produced in a country or the change of art within a certain period of time etc. Hope this helps a bit. Best, CCC
Vv, I am totally agree with the views of Dr Krishnan and Dr Claus-Christian. In addition to their views, Of course, it is necessary that everybody should have good art quality which helps them to innovate their works in a good way. I think Innovation and art qualities are complementary to each other.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is no more today... bereaving...
"The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his information and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence at whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he's always doing both." -- James A. Michener
