Blood sampling on penguins is usually done via a tarsal vein, using a needle to prick the foot and capillary tube to collect the blood sample. The technique usually works well, but it can be hard to find a vein or yield a good volume of blood. I was wondering if anyone has experience collecting blood with syringes from the flippers or any other parts of the body.

Many thanks!
