I research on mesoporous carbon CMK-3 modified by Ni nanoparticles and its application on reductive amination. However, according to the XRD and SEM characterization, the used catalyst seems destroyed in acetonitrile solvent. On the other hand, the structure of reused catalyst in water solvent is well retained.

Carbon precursor in SMC-3 are sugar and free fatty acids. It is possible that they remain in your MCS-3 and dissolved in acetonitrile and degrade its properties.

Acetonitrile is also a polar solvent. kindly check your reaction conditions. As you told if your catalyst is stable in water, it must be stable in acetonitrile also
