I seeded Vero cells on very flat surface that has silicon oxide and metal grids with no topographical surfaces. The root-mean square roughness values (obtained from AFM images) were ~0.26 ± 0.06 nm (silicon oxide) and ~0.44 ± 0.14 nm (metal). SEM images indicate that almost 95% of cells prefer metal surfaces rather than silicon oxide. does anyone have an explanation?
