There are so many carbon materials with various physical and chemical properties, such as graphite, coke, activated carbon and acetylene black and so on, however, the coke maybe is the most important and widely applied in pyrometallurgy. Why is coke? Why not activated carbon or graphite or others? Just because it is the highest activity or most economic?

This is a very broad topic. The most appropriate carbon material is determined by the reaction mechanisms in the process you are interested in. There are different types of reactivity, e.g. gas, slag, and alloy. Not all are applicable to each process.
