I am studying the interactions between the hexagonal VVER reactor core of a nuclear power plant and the national electrical power flow for different scenarios. The nuclear power plant and the national electrical grid simulation model is already finished by MATLAB, Comsol and PSS/E. I have already coded the thermal-hydraulic coupled core calculations, the core burn-up calculations and the space-dependant kinetics calculations of the LWR core. However, I need a certified software that has an open data base benchmarks to compare my results with it.

From my experience, the best international repository for getting codes is with the OECD/NEA., whose general link is below. This is the best source especially for users outside of the US. There you may also be able to find experimental benchmarks with which you can validate the code system you're developing, or to just request a software package for verification. The software you find there may vary depending on the degree of "openness" depending on the institution that developed it. But I think that with some research you can easily find VVER benchmark studies.

For Serpent code contact VTT, Finland (http://montecarlo.vtt.fi/). Your analysis could also be done in APROS code (http://www.apros.fi/en/), which is also VTT and Fortum code. Only kinetics part or the full coupled analysis kinetics-thermalhydraulics-grid.

many thanks for your contributions, I have tried contacting and emailing the guys in NEA but to no avail. I have also tried connecting with their appointed guy for distributing the serpent code in egypt Hopefully at some point, someone will reply !!!
