I am testing histone toxicity in cells and then planning to test the same in animals. I have total calf thymus histone from santacurz and it kills cells effectively but has very low solubility ( sc-221727, 2 mg/ml). I bought one histone from sigma and another from worthington. Both of them are highly soluble as they are lyophilized but unfortunately they are not toxic and can't kill cells at concentrations as high as 100 ug/ml. I even checked the purity of Sigma one and found more then 10 bands instead of 5. Can someone suggest any good source of total calf thymus histone which has high solubility and good quality?
