For a particular metrological application we are developing, we would like to find microscope objectives designed according to Herschel criteria (magnifying along Z axis) instead of Abbe criteria (magnifying at transverse plane). We could also design them ourselves, but this is normally harder and slower. Does anyone know of any commercialized Herschel-designed objectives, or of good starting points for designing them (in Zemax, Oslo or another software)? Alternatively, design starting points for axial magnification with large apertures would also be welcomed.
What is your budget?
We have a Photomap 3D at the 3IT that gives good results, but it's more expensive than a standard microscope and I think there would be cleverer ways of doing this. Still, look at those:

I have seen a pretty impressive demonstration by them a while ago when I was looking for a new microscope for my lab.
Hi, Santiago, do you mean the narrow field of view objective, like those used for confocal microscopy? I designed a number of this kind of objectives at my previous work. I may not send you the existing design, but I can use it as a starting point myself if you want me to design it for you.
