Energy protein ratio is a matter of importance in Ostrich development, the higher the ratio the worse the development, its an inverse relationship. The state of health of the Ostrich bird is also important- Dr. Silas abel
Energy and protein are the most expensive constituents of commercial animal feeds. High levels of these diets in ostrich feeds may not be necessary and may even be detrimental. Studies indicate that feeding young ostriches lower energy diets had no effect on their growth rate. Lower energy diets consequently can be used when growing/finishing ostriches to slaughter age with no adverse effects on production.
