I am having trouble finding a good, psychometrically-validated scale to measure how awe-inspiring a given experimental stimuli is. I could just ask something like 'how awesome / amazing / incredible did you find the [stimuli]?' but of course it would be better if there was a scale with more indicators and had been used previously. Any ideas?
There is a " dispositional awe scale" consisting of six items. Check out page 956 in this paper:

You want to measure the awesomeness of experimental stimuli, but if your research design is between-subjects you would need to control for prior differences in dispositional awe.
Thanks for that. Yep I was aware of that one, however that's a disposition/trait-level scale. I want a more state-level / short-term measure.
Thanks. Yes bio measures are interesting. There was a paper that showed that awe seems to be indicated by changes in cardiac pre-ejection period. However, I think these methods would best be used as a complement rather than replacement for a state scale.
