I am trying to test the model in the figures below. That is, a linear relationship between X and Y, with two moderators variables (X and W) in which there is an influence of the joint effects of the two moderators together.
I could use the macro for SPSS called PROCESS, but I am more interested in developing a hierarchical regression with STATA by multiplying the different variables (previously centered).
Has anyone worked with similar models before or recall a similar study I can base to develop the methodological part of this kind of moderation effect correctly?

Hi,
there is nothing special with third-way interaction and any regression book (the Aiken/West, 1991) is a classic one is appropriate.
I am rather skeptical in those higher-order terms and would a) be sure to have a large sample and b) rather nail the causal identification of the simple X-Y effect before going fancy.
I would love to see a kind of many-labs project aiming at replicating the most famous third-way interaction papers published. Would be interesting :)

Holger Steinmetz thank you so much for the message. Actually, I wanted to perform a hierarchical regression (i.e. starting with only the control variables, then adding X and Y, and finally all the moderators). This way we can determine whether newly added variables show a significant improvement in R2. I have a sample size >200 so I guess that is enough. I just wanted to make sure I perform all the needed tests based on a published or good example.
