I am measuring the band gap of dark-colored solid materials using a UV–Vis spectrometer. However, all materials give nearly identical results, making it difficult to distinguish between them or extract accurate band gap values.
To reliably measure band gaps of dark-colored solids using UV-DRS, prepare homogeneous, diluted samples mixed with a reflective matrix like BaSO4 and use diffuse reflectance with Kubelka-Munk data processing. Ensure consistent measurement conditions and replicate sampling to avoid signal saturation and improve differentiation.
