We employ a slurry of silica powder , but we  very often see defects like macroscopic cracks, void and surface irregularities on the green artifacts. I think that is a problem related to the chemical composition and surface properties of the plaster mold, rather than the slurry used.

Any of you know how to optimize the properties of absorption of water by the mold (for example by changing chemical composition, method of preparation, etc.) so as to reduce the defects in the pieces?

thank you very much!
