I started to explore the potentials for “Magnetogenetics” for neuronal control. I have found two publications from 2016 (Wheeler et al. 2016, Stanley et al. 2016), which claimed to use transgene systems for manipulation of neuronal activity. The magnetic effect as diriving force were call into question in both publications by theoretical considerations regarding the potential magnetic effect (Meister 2016). However I could not find any publication that tried to reproduce the effects observed in both publications from 2016. Does anyone have experience with these kind of “Magnetogenetics”?
