I have the english one translated by myself from Japanese book. I would like to have the official english one or the experience of people who followed the method.

basically the method is conversion of all forms into Nitrate and then Ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometer based analyses.

That reads like a method of analysis for water samples. The 120 degrees is a give away for an autoclave.

As the words you sent suggest, the method relies upon :

1. oxidation of organic N to nitrate, which absorbs in the UV

2. oxidation of all the organics in the medium that absorb in the UV across the same wavelength range. as nitrate.

There is a lot of literature on measuring nitrate in the UV and minimising organic interferences

A. Japanese method,

Oxidation of all the organics to nitrate and analyze.

B. APHA method, Organic nitrogen convert to Ammonia and analyze.

We have conducted APHA method over few decades in our lab. Japanese method is comparatively convent in case of total nitrogen measurement. So now we are thinking to move into Japanese method.

Japanese method is comparatively convert compared to APHA for water and wastewater samples.

I would like to know the experience of someone following Japanese method to measure TN.

(Background story: Original english copy of the Japanese methods book is 8 times expensive (800 USD) than the Japanese book. Right now we are using the translated (I translated it) one from Japanese version.

I wonder the experience and the point of view of Scientific community in this field.
