As you know, the CIS survey does not show the names of the companies that have participated in the study. However, do those companies have the same ID (or something similar) if they participate in the survey in different periods, hence allowing them to analyze in different time periods? In other words, if I ask for CIS 2008 and CIS 2010, can I collect data for the same company in the two different surveys?
Yes, it is possible to link data between firms in different CIS surveys using their ID number. Ask your local statistical office (or the one from which you wish to obtain the data from) that is responsible for collecting the data. If you have any specific questions, just send me a note. yes, it is possible to link firms in subsequent waves of CIS. Many universities and research institutes have secure access to the data, or direct your request to your statistical office.
I have raw data for over 8000 companies from Poland basing on CIS survey. It could be interesting to use detail data from two countries to public the comparison...of innovation systems.
Yes, in principle you cam make the merging of overalpping surveys; the best in this are the German at ZEW-Mannheim
