A) I need a vehicle portable mass spectrum for the analysis of hydrothermal/geothermal "soil" gas collected with a soil probe as a gas phase.

B) Ideally, I would also like to analyze, with the same device, Hg compounds collected over time on a silver strip and evolved by heating the silver, producing a gas phase also (Hg analysis now done with modified Jerome).

An older used/reconditioned device would be acceptable. My life does not depend on the results, at least not immediately, so I do not need a WMD-style mass spec, nor will I be doing any serious mountaineering with it strapped to my back, so I do not require the smallest, lightest mass spec. Low detection limits over a broad range of amu would be good. I would like to do as many gas phase compounds as possible in one sample. And, of course, I would prefer simple calibration and great stability. Is there a style, brand, manufacturer you would recommend? Do you have one in your garage? I am also open to all suggestions. My apologies if I am asking in an incorrect forum.
