Catalina, My experience with pest control in Lupinus mutabilis has centered on Delia platura in the highlands of Ecuador. If you are getting infestations of Cecidomyiids I suspect that the problem is related to inadequate drainage of the fields leading to anaerobic conditions in the soil which will promote infestation of the seed by fungi. I would suggest using a seed treatment with a broad spectrum fungicide formulated as a wettable powder. Are you using thiodicarb (Semevin) as a seed protectant against Delia? This will certainly kill the Cecidomyiids but I suspect its effectiveness will be minimized by the wet conditions we are facing this El Niño year.
I have attached a copy of the references from a paper in preparation written by Patricia Guerra who worked on this problem at INIAP. I hope this helps
This Cecidomyiids causes galls and galleries on the stems during the cultivate cycle, we didn´t find them in the seeds. The crops were located between 2590 and 2740 m s nm, less than this altitude we didn´t find de pest
