Need some of those for the diffraction experiments. However, not sure if a freestanding membrane would work, and also interested in getting a membrane with as flat surface as possible... Does anybody have an idea where to look it up?

Any experience with this company? I was also a bit confused by their prices: the price list says that the membranes are provided in packages of 100 items, whereas the price is given for "Each" (what does it mean? is it each membrane in a package, or each package? No good for a supplier)... In the end it turned out to be a package price.
Good one when it comes to material and substrate. I once purchased HOPG from this company. That was really great and impurity free. Don't know about the particular item you asked for. Best wishes.

if the ordering degree and size control of the nanopores in nanoporous alumina membranes is important for your experiments maybe the Whatman Anodisc filter membranes are not the best option.
In the Nanoporous Membranes Laboratory of the University of Oviedo we produce tailor made, highly ordered nanoporous alumina membranes (pore diameters can be selected in the range 15-250 nm), with controlled thickness up to 200 microns. We can supply them as free-standing membranes (with pores opened in both sides) or on top of electropolished Aluminum substrates (pores closed on the back-side). We are looking for reliable suppliers of custom high-quality NP-AO membranes for our experiments with diffraction and in situ conditions. The biggest concern is the size of the pores and the characteristic length of coherent domains (that is, the degree of sample ordering). The thickness of anodized films may vary let's say from 5 to 150 um. The temperatures are not expected to be extreme, most likely we'll start at RTs. Hope this answers your questions. We are looking for AAO membranes with pore diameters 250-400 nm (5-20 um thickness). But none of the commercial suppliers provide these pore diameters. What is the reason?

for obtaining such large pore diameters it is necessary to perform anodization at very high voltage, around 200 V, which is quite difficult. That may be the reason.
