Normally in higher education, we use a rubric to assess students' written report. The purpose is to be fair of the process to all students. It means to standardize the evaluation so that all student's report will be treated equally. The components of a rubric depend on the objective of the report assignment. For example, in my rubric I use:
1. Organization of the report (for instance: Information is very organised with well-constructed paragraphs and subheadings)
2. Information used in the report (for instance: All topics are addressed and all questions answered. Information clearly relates to the main topic. It includes several supporting details and / or examples.)
3. Analysis used in the report (for instance: Demonstrates sophisticated evaluation and critical analysis of the topic in terms of research and comparison to similar work done by others.)
4. Punctuality of the report submission
5. Language (grammar, spelling, etc.)
6. Format of the report
7. Source and references
8. Overall.
A combination will be the grade of a student's report.
