In India, it is observed that large number of population is using traditional medicine for prophylaxis of Covid-19. Will there be increase in acceptance and impact of AYUSH systems in general population?
It has been found that AYUSH traditional medicine is very helpful in boosting up our immunity but there is a lack of evidence of AYUSH medicine in fighting with COVID-19. I think AYUSH can be considered as the preventive helper in the fight against COVID-19 rather than its cure until the pieces of evidence are discovered. So we as the light bearer of the research world should aware the general population to not depend only on AYUSH as it is not a cure for COVID yet.
Till date gold standard evidence is not available either for contemporary science or traditional medicine for Covid-19 treatment. However, a large number of studies are ongoing using AYUSH intervention in management of Covid-19 registered on CTRI. We have summarised studies upto 25th June, 2020 in our one article also. It's not appropriate to say that traditional medicine can't be used in treatment of Covid-19. However, we have to wait upto outcomes of these ongoing trials for putting evidence.
