With the adoption of new technologies and internet, the work is getting streamlined and moving faster. Due to this , some of the work, may need less human interventions.
Do you think this may lead to jobless growth in some countries?
Dear Prof. Ashok Pundir, most sectors may experience just that. Now I hardly visit banks, cable TV office or Common. office because I can do all with my mobile. However, good thinking, innovative idea and hard work will provide man with benefits and make life worth living.
In future, people not having good level of education will find it difficult to earn even a minimum amount of money.
Very quick change of technologies is one reason for it. There are many other reasons related with international economics, business etc. will also work behind it.
Yes! This a classical tech-know-logical process of 'creative destruction'; the market alone cannot do it, wise policies have to be worked out to enhance employment opportunities and sources of income, by labor and entrepreneurship. Something like a 'learning revolution' is needed to see the dangers in the road. The political economy of exponential knowledge automation, with reference to job creation, is a definite humanitarian problem of the next 20 years.
The adoption of new technologies will actually create more economic opportunities for more people if the technology is going to be applied more widely and become available to more people or communities
No. Look at the USA, the most technologically advanced nation on Earth. They can’t find enough employees because they simply removed some regulations and provided tax cuts!
This will depend a lot on the sector. Technology will displace jobs in some sectors such as banking, customer service, etc. It can create jobs for qualified persons in high tech areas that may involve programming or robotics or any other automation aspects. Some highly labour-intensive low skill jobs may not be affected by technology although there is no telling if in the future machines may replace labourers.
Technology has create an efficient environment for every sector most especially the human part to improve productivity. We must all embrace it as it does not cause job loss in the long run.
Yes, the emergence of technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence will sure displace human from their jobs. Five more years to come.
Once Stephen Hawking has said that time would come when the control of the world would rest in the hands of machines. Definitely new technologies have the ability to enhance productivity but one can't undermine the risks and threats that they brings to the table. Apart from obvious increased rate of unemployment in possibly all sectors, non-cost efficiency and inability of self replacement are some of the loopholes which needs to be discussed on wider base.
