The shift to e- learning is a drastic measure, universities have had to take and neither university staff members teaching nor administrators are happy with it. The job market has been very low in many countries, affected by the pandemic. Unemployment has been definitely on the rise, making the future look quite bleak to young people seeking employment. I think though, it’s too early to talk about the pandemic causing permanent damage especially as many vaccines are being developed and will be available, God willing, by Spring. However, even before the pandemic, the job market is very competitive; in the recent years, more people are getting university degrees and companies and businesses have tailored their standards and terms so that only the very best of young graduates can meet.

Online teaching should be applied with caution without compromising quality of teaching and intended learning outcomes.

I don't think it adds anything significant

To begin, the whole merging of programs, curriculum as a cost-cutting measure have not only affected the intended educational process, production and results, it has disrupted educational mentality as well, such as how to handle the sudden transition to accomandating the learning in a format that will produce positive results. To refer to it as "casualization process" is unfair to educators who have really applied all their efforts to ensure the delivery of continuity of the intended learning process.

Educators who have the "don't care" attitude already may see the work from home as a playground. Those educators already "casualize" education and input very little to the change needed to "make it work."

Without the risk of sounding angry, I am more less disappointed, according to what I have experienced, when I talk with different ones and what I have learned and observed.

How will it affect the employability of the current students?

As far as the student population is concerned, the "casualization process" may be a concern too. You are going find students in general either apply themselves in the virtual realm or the face-to-face or lax in their education. Also, those students that give their all in face-to-face classes will more than likely continue to be studious, only having to apply more effort to decipher the online learning process to their benefit, but will usually grasp it and succeed and will stand a better chance of employment because of their perservance.

Have I wanted to give it up? Yes, when I allow the frustration of teaching online to students that still have not conceptualized the online learning format or they do know how to work the "ins and outs" refuse to meet deadlines, do not attend online lectures and will not follow guidelines and I cannot teach them the correct way because they will not attend online lectures, email and ask for, call my office for help and /or stop by my office for help. Safety measures are taken to allow them the right to come for help.

I live for my job. Not being able to engage in the classroom has taken a toll on many educators who are at their best face-to-face, and still are even at their best during the pandemic.

In all, you are right to use the term "casualization process" because some do causually apply themselves and already have been, which is a disservice to the student and reflection of perception of the community.

While online teaching has its obvious advantages, it has its busts as well, which I think is more prevalent now than ever. The quality of education is being horrendously compromised. Online teaching has its limitations, technology cannot provide the warmth that comes with a wholesome way of teaching. Employability would not grow in a student unless she/he is out there getting some real hand into things. Even if the course is such that requires doing everything on screen, you would require the skills who can utilize in the form of team work.

Online education is good during this pandemic time. But it can not replace education in class room situation.Its not at all beneficial for subjects like science and mathmatics.

The question of employability is not a matter of concern in the current situation as this pandemic has blanketed each section of every society throughout the world.

What matters is how this practice of on line teaching educating our children and how they are going to make themselves prepared to face the future situation.

The quality od education is badly affected by it.

Yes, I think that.

The public health crisis due to covid-19 virus has a far reaching effect worldwide. The delivery of education services has been affected in the sense that we have to change the learning modalities that in consonance with the existing public heath protocol. Online mode of teaching and learning in higher is only an intervention to have the continuity of learning. In terms of casualization, not all courses in higher education can be done through online. There are courses that need or actual performance of the competency. Thus, online mode of teaching and learning in higher education needs to have an actual performance of competencies learned through limited face to face with the adherence to public health standard being implemented.

Many of us used to look at the online mode as a Back-up Plan/Plan B. However, such a mode can be the only option we have in times of distress (e.g., COVID-19). Therefore, we should upgrade our perception regarding the online mode vis-à-vis F2F mode of education. With the astonishing ICT developments, I have become a big fan of hybrid education, which could be the new normal in many countries worldwide.
