So far there are very few examples of social housing designed with energy efficiency criteria in Latin America. Is that due to the very low cost and the lower standards? What do you think?
Thank you very much for your question, Concha. It's true that the standards are lower and regulations too permissive with low quality of standards, it's a vicious circle. I think that a systemic approach to different progressive strategies, in energetic field, too, is for me the field to explore. Following low cost ideas, but develop it with a design concept of self made and good and robust quality. I think that the solutions there are in the specific context, only we need to retrofit and "re-design" new old-solutions.
Thank you for your comment Concha, I will search for the information, do you have some specific links for Vincent Ferrer foundation´s projects?
My exploration begins in specific contexts, concretely in Chile, from the south and their microclimatic environment. I am defining strategies to proceed in each place, for design and in refurbishment too. I am doing a PhD research about it. Now I am looking for some successfull examples. In the energetic aspect, Valdespartera in Zaragoza is a good example of aplication of bioclimatic concepts, these solutions works well but the design of neighbourhood and public spaces suffer lack of diversity. So for me the problem is more conceptual, because we need to create a theoretical-practical proceed. I think that the influence of "good practices" which are sometimes good references, but dangerous because design imitation and internationalization is always possible and unconscious as well, because of course always are out of place and context. So, I am looking for some strategies to find "authentic reference" for habitat and housing in Chile.
Talking about examples, by the way, this page is interesting to see some europeans typologies:
Thank you,Concha, I'm working on that. The link and the cooperation project is very interesting, I saw it from your links. About the ideas yes, in abstract is more or less what you say but I am looking for new and "true" references in latin american cities, beginning by the South, in Concepción. If you want, we could keep in touch and work together in some specific theme, such housing or vernacular spaces. My Email is [email protected].

Thank you very much Claudio, it´s a very good website with a lot of interesting information about housing. Thanks a lot, this website is interesting too and you could to navigate by different typologies and examples of housing.
I think it's important to consider the benefits of bioclimatic vernacular architecture, especially in Latin America, which is a very rich region ancestral knowledge that allowed adapt to the most varied climatic conditions. An example corresponds to earth architecture, which is also susceptible of modernization to develop new languages and options. In the area of planning it is also important to consider the solar trajectories for the most suitable alignment and integration of vegetation as a natural element of air conditioning.
