Thank you for this interesting question. It is my personal opinion that technology can improve language learning, but I think speaking a language (in particular having a conversation with native speakers) is something that cannot be replaced when someone aims to become fluent in a foreign language.
Everything has positive and negative aspects. After learning a scientific topic in the class room the concept becomes more clear, if we watch the relevant videos available in various websites. For example protein synthesis. There can be innumerable such examples.
Learning languages through audiovisual and e-learning platforms seems to be quite useful to the students.

Yes, I agree with many of the answers above.....Technology depending on a student's learning style can be improved, enhanced and re-enforced.... but unless a student is motivated themselves to actually learn something, technology cannot help.... motivation comes first.....
