What I think is Dithiothreitol. As it is water-soluble and does not form a precipitate. But, the thing is it contains sulphur which is quite hazardous to aquatic animals.

Initially Publons was created to create a record of all pre-publication reviews to pay tribute for all those volunteering their time to act as reviewers. Moreover, Publons declares names of reviewers based on criteria such as largest number of verified reviews, largest number of verified reviews during the last 12 months, counting the period from September to September. Later after about 2 years, Publons decided to include citations as well as the number of publications using ORCID and other records, in addition to the previous recording pre-publications.
