IBM has developed a super computer that has proved to be better than human in answering questions. Watson’s success in the Jeopardy (quiz)! challenge is inspiring a new era of optimized systems design. Watson’s advances in deep analytics and its ability to process unstructured data and interpret natural language will now be tailored to fit the requirements of new solutions in healthcare. The computer mainly follows algorithms but claimed by doctors working on this project use artificial intelligence.
In UK (NHS) nurses were allowed to diagnose and treat patients based on protocols (strict binary framework) since 2003. Offering healthcare diagnosis, advice and prescriptions using algorithms. This experiment has resulted in devastating lives of thousands, killed 37,000 due to sepsis last year and is a major embarrassment to politicians and doctors working in UK (NHS).
