Well actually for any motor skill, but I'm interested in discussing martial arts/ combat skills, because style and head instructor - hanshi/sifu/o sensei/professor and so on authority often is the judge of orthodoxy/ effectiveness of a move.

My question comes from TGfU approach where a tactical problem is thought to motivate or innovate learner to move or create a technique on their natural movement patterns.

Can we really introduce tactical problems so that in will stimulate learning of a combat skill or a martial arts skill? Skills and techniques have been taught by instructor demonstrating a correct move and students copying it as exactly as possible.

Something in this picture does not match? Either TGfU is not realistic/functional or martial arts didactics/pedagogy could be highly improved? (Ofcouse both options can be true too:-)
