do you have any document that explore a H bond reaction with Terpinen-4-ol. or denote the difference in the solubilities of Terpinen-4-ol in different organic solvents. I carried out a partitioning test for marjoram oil (containing high percent of Terpinen-4-ol) between acetonitrile and hexane and i foud that the oil was dissolved in acetonitrile layer. i nedd some articles about that. i need also, discussion from you and all experts

Terpinen-4-ol is soluble in alcohol and common organic solvents. Its solubility in alcohols is due to the hydrogen bonding between its hydroxyl group (-O-H) and the alcoholic hydroxyl group (R-O-H). Its solubility in aceonitrile and other polar solvents is attributed to electrostatic interactions (dipol dipol interactions).

Your finding that terpinen-4-ol is better extracted by acetonitrile compared to n-hexan is due to the dipol dipol interactions between the dipoles in the solvent the hydroxyl group of terpinen-4-ol. Please note that log Kow (3.6) of terpinen-4-ol which is not so high (moderate lipophilic compound). This is in contrast to terpinene (lacking hydroxyl group) which has a log p 4.5 and its solubility in polar organic solvents is limited.
