Continously statistical methods and algorithms useful for researchers in other fields are being developed. It would be interesting to know the speed of knowledge transfer. I am wondering if this issue has been subject to systematical analysis?
We've been doing research on a more general topic how modeling knowledge (whether statistical, or other) migrates. The answer is S.L.O.W.L.Y.

J, Scott Armstrong at Wharton has looked at this, and has published some excellent papers which appear on his faculty web page. Nearly all of them can be downloaded there.
