You can measure gluconate with a coupled assay of gluconate kinase that makes 6 phospho gluconic acid, and then add 6 phosphogluconic acid dehydrogenase (G-PGDH) to make ribulose 5 phosphate and NADPH/NADP conversion measured by a340nm changes. Then ferrous can be quantified with a Peroxasy kit.
