Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics are still in its infancy related to MOOCs, and concerning Language MOOCs, I only found two references after a systematic review. Do you have experience with LMOOcs and LA?
Thank you very much, Leona, but research that includes both topics, I mean, LA & Language MOOCs is really scarce, also in Google Scholar, but thank you again, I am going to keep searching for it.
Look maybe for you it will be useful. We collected various analytics on our project https://www.researchgate.net/project/peer2peer-collaborative-learning-platform-i2istudycom
Maria what data would you be interested in as gathering meaningful data would seem to be problematic. Sure you can gather 'look at' and 'commence' numbers but completion rates are notorious (low) and the only valid ones will be those who pay to complete for certification. No reason not to explore but maybe that is why there s few papers in that space. Time for more maybe....
This seems a very promising area of research. Particularly because of the expanding situation of MOOCs.
I've read a bit about the so-called instructional design requested by certain applications offering openEdx implementation of MOOCs. I'll keep trying. So far, nothing really exciting....
Maria if you can maybe discuss with people who develop analytics tools and ask them what might the best way / from which perspective to collect data from MOOCs. I know I will be. Then it becomes your original work. We have MOOCs in our university and I know the person responsible for setting them up. I will ask there first and let you know.
Thank you very much, Ilya, a very interesting reference! Thank you, Irwyn, for your answer and availability. My University also offers MOOCs. Thus I am searching for research studies relating to both topics LA and Language MOOCs for a literature review. And thank you, Margarita! Let me know if you find an interesting reference, please!
