However QDA Miner is not completly free, It is only the "Lite version" which is really free (see for instance https://provalisresearch.com/products/qualitative-data-analysis-software/freeware/compare-versions/ ). In fact, I am looking for a really open software for my students, something like an opensource software.

What is worrying me is that It seems that this does not exist anymore, except RQDA, but RQDA is too difficult to be installed if you are not really aware of R package compatibily problems...

It's true, most of the QDA software has a price attached. Depending on the data security requirements, CAT as mentioned above is a good option in this regard. It's definitely a bit tricky these days for those less comfortable with R and binary packages!

I do agree with you. Regarding RQDA the main difficulty seems to linked with loss of compatibility of package versions depending on the update... And it is not so easy to solve for a "normal" student.

There is a considerable difference between QDA Miner Lite and the full version of the software. In particular, the full version concentrates on advanced features, while QDA Miner Lite provides most of the basic functions that make up the core of any QDA program. In particular, you could use it to introduce your students to coding by marking text segments and searching the resulting codes etc. So, I would look into the tutorials and see if it covers what you need.

QCAmap (link: https://www.qcamap.org) is an open access software (web-based) for qualitative content analysis. It’s a very „simple“ qda-software compared to the functions of MAXQDA. But it works well.

Another problem can be data confidentiality: can users be sure that their data will not be hacked if they have to be uploaded to this server ?
