As you know, there are a lot of systematic differences between Buteo buteo individuals. Most differences are consequence of species biotop and climate conditions. A lot of individuals of mentioned species live in Balkan Peninsula, but there is less data about them. The data about birds biodiversity in Bosnia and Herzegovina are very old and first and last completly analyze was perform for the Austro-Hungarian period. May be it is time for new study of predator birds in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There is a classic paper on morphometric variation in Buteo buteo, which reference is:
JAMES, A. H. (1984). Geographic variation in the Buzzard Buteo buteo (Linnaeus, 1758): Mid-Atlantic and West Mediterranean Islands (Aves: Accipitridae). Beaufortia 34 (4): 101-116.
By the way, I can say that in the Macaronesian or Mid-Atlantic archipelagos (e.g. Canary and Cape Verde islands) this species shows a great variability in its plumage coloration, from dark to very pale individuals, and even some which seem to be closer to Buteo rufinus.
