As you may know, bio-sensors are widely used in medical, industrial and pharmaceutical processes. But I wanted to know about the projects that the sensors has been applied in agricultural depended activities or the potential of their applications in agriculture.
there is a lot of applications of biosensors in Agriculture, espicially rapid ones for exemple the need for toxins detection.
For example, if you want to detect glycoalkaloids in potato tubers, which kind of biosensors would be required?
The sensors or Information and communication technology tools or combination of both has wide range of applications in farm machinery research. Some of the applications are measurement / Monitoring of Tractor and Implement parameters which influence its performance, Seed planter performance Parameters measurement , Grain Yield prediction / measurement , Sprayer Fluid Application monitoring and Quantification etc,. These are some of low end applications of sensors. Once these are quantified and procedures standardized , one can develop the Machine on go Monitoring systems which is an emerging area of research in Farm Mechanization. We at CRIDA , Hyderabad (INDIA) , Working on application of sensors to predict Seed planter performance parameters.
But I wanted to know exactly about biosensors rather than sensors. Do you have any idea about the matter?
There is a wide range of application of bio-sensors in agriculture eg: soil acidity,nitrogen concentration (in case of legumes) sensor for nitrate,sensors for pesticide and herbicides,metal and mineral concentration, one can never ignore sensors for plant disease.
