Thank you too much Dr.Beatrice. You are giving two interesting cases of associated pathologies.

In the first case, the cause of hydrocephalus was due to a ventricular Hge. In the second case the complicated myelogram and the subarachnoid hematoma led blood to escape to the ventricles causing hydrocephalus.

What about CSF circulation: Could cervical compression and obstruction affect hydrocephalus adjustment in shunted patients?

One  explanation might be related to the mechanic venous outflow obstruction, both in the perdural plexuses and in the cervical muscles, that might  hamper CSF reabsorption.

I am not a specialist, but your explanation looks very sensible to me.

It is also well known that amount of CSF going through spinal cord is negligible having insignificant effect on CSF pressure.

So in higher adjustments: cervical pathology, cervical decompression surgery and CSF spinal drainage can be disregarded.

But what about lower adjustments (final adjustments towards optimal CSF pressure)?

Spinal drainage may be possibly significant. We need to know about studies done or to be planned to know the answer of this question.
