I certainly do. Both is absolutely necessary, as they address different aspects of us as human beings. Regarding research, we are learning and we need to learn from our first day on earth. To finaly solve a problem or to find something out contributes largely to our satisfaction. It gives us confidence in life and our own existence. Teaching represence an enhanced / supported way of learning in opposite to self-supported learning. To see that you succeeded in teaching at least of some students provides satisfaction as well. Teaching is as important as research itself. We relied on it and we need new, capable students for all kinds of jobs to be done. Both researcg as well as teaching can be tough and tedious at times. As a teaching it is worthwhile to learn about good teaching methods. In research the right question to the problem your working on is often the key to the solution. Both are related to the field your are working on, meaning the prospects for advancing / succeeding of yourself.
it would be very hard to do teaching and research without finding fulfillment. As this job really takes incredibly much more than only working hours (especially in higher education) - also work on research, various committees at department/ faculty/ university/ national / international levels, considerable number of reports, evaluations, project participation, establishing cooperation with industry, consultations, supervision work... Even more, in some countries this job does not have social recognition, and is not valuated properly... so, without having passion for all extra-work on weekends, vacations, free-time, this would not be possible.
On the other side, possibility to do research and teaching, connect theory and practice, connect with people from other countries and implement the knowledge for your students and your profession, that is rewarding. On the other side, seeing class as not interested in the topic, is really depressive. Research and teaching are very tightly interconnected (in higher education) giving opportunity for advancement of professors and students.
