I think this will encourage the researchers to read more articles, chapters and papers indexed in RG. But, Questions/Answers to be excluded.

Yes, the index counting the readership of a specific field of knowledge, subject, scientific problem etc. could be useful on the Research Gate portal. Such an indicator function should be added to the Research Gate portal. Such an indicator could influence the interest of certain interesting topics and publications by successive researchers and scientists. But the key issue is to build a new category of this type of indicator that does not fully coincide with the functionality of such indicators as: Recommendations and Reads.

Yes I wholeheartedly agree, but it is difficult to quantify the number of reads pertaining to each speciality, as research is a big ocean.
I completely agree with Rabiul Alam . This idea will motive the researcher read more papers and books.

I think this will be a useful feature to add on to RG which will make the "participation" of the member more quantifiable. There have been some who have been gaming the system by adding silly and useless answers to questions such yes, no, or following with very little value add to the ongoing discussion. Making the number of reads that a member participates in count can thus truly elevate the "research" nature of RG.
I read nowadays almost regularly research gate profile and keeping view on different threads of question answer section.
