The concept of water footprint is primarily rooted in the links between water use and water resource management vis-a-vis crop performance. Likewise, carbon footprint of a crop is an indication , how good or bad , the given crop is , with regard to adoption or mitigation of the kind of stresses the crop is exposed . These concepts are interchangeably utilised to define the production sustainability of a given crops or cropping sequence . And often , beyond the sustainability of agriculture , carbon and water footprints are used to define the type of climate change and its ultimate implications as well. In this background , i propose the following questions to our learned colleagues to share their wisdom :

* What is water footprint accounting?

* How are water footprint and nutrient density of a crop related to each other?

* How are water footprint and soil fertility related to each other ?

* What is the maximum sustainable limit of water footprint ?. What kind of relation, does it display with crop performance sustainability ?

* How does origin and characteristics of water and carbon footprints affect the sustainability of agriculture?

* What is the consequential effect(s) of changes in water footprint or carbon footprint on crop performance ?

Thanks and Regards
