I think distance education can be useful and beneficial, provided the educational content is good. However, I feel that the on-campus experience is the most valuable as students can interact both with other students in their field, and with teachers who are teaching important content. Direct face to face communication can be invaluable because information can be learned, questions can be asked, and knowledge can be gleaned in situ.
I would say, distance learning rather than distance teaching. Good videos and study material can aid in learning, but can never substitute teaching. Distance teaching can improve your knowledge but, when it come to understanding, it matters how the information has been administered to the students.
