Hi, have you looked at AHRQ resources? Its a great place for patient safety education related studies, case notes and slides. The modules emphasize the importance of patient engagement and effective communication towards safer, patient-centric and informed care. Patients and care givers for instance are made a part of advisory councils, who are then part of a group which influences policy, procedures and strategic initiatives. Look at health literacy dyads- like:Health literacy and heart failure management in patient-caregiver dyads.  There are other studies out there. The thought is, the ability of one individual to provide health information to another is mediated by the health literacy levels of both participants.
