Could you please clarify following questions:
Is it possible to observe same behaviour without magic numbered nanoparticles?
Does symmetry play any role in system behaviour, strain, structural stablity?

Magic number nanoparticles are seen to have more symmetrical structures. Among nanoparticles, every size and shape has its unique structural and as a consequence electronic properties. So
(a) It is very unlikely to have same behavior for any two different sized/shaped nanoparticles. However, few sized clusters may exhibit similar properties with varying magnitudes.
(b) Structure and electronic properties are interrelated and hence structure does play an important role in determining its chemical and physical properties.
