theoretically NO, Expansion occurs both pipes. please see the figure b) to see how the hollow pipes expand. So theoretically it is expected to expand the both pipes together leaving no additional space for leaking.
However, there can be practical cases due to improper pipe fixing and faulty pipelines. (I could not find special such case in literature).
Sudip Saha apart from expansion of iron pipes, they are highly subject to corrosion (rusting) which can change water chemistry so they are not advisable to be used in humid conditions.
Secondly, there is a less variation in temperatures and they rarely exceeds 35 degree celcius. so chances are rare for such leakage but rust related leakages can occur.
