There are more and more journals available to submit research papers too. Some of these journals are listed as predatory journals and are not considered valid. Yet still, they have an open access option and your research work has a global reach online.

Of course, publishing in such journals reduces the value of the article, whatever the impact factor is... It is better to stay away from them. In fact, there are many journals that are just starting their work, and I usually watch what they publish. If the quality of the articles is good, then it makes sense to try to publish some materials from them.

predatory and impact factor? it is a question with rare combination. the moment we call it predatory, it means fake and cheating people. Naturally the impact factor also fake and built falsely. I admire Mr Marcus for such funny but eye opening question.
Yes, publishing in predatory journals reduce the value of research. In the meantime, the impact factor that predatory journals display on their websites are not accurate or as mentioned in previous comments it is fake. Avoid predatory journals.
I personally feel if i have a performed a good research, i would not go for predatory journals. Most of the time, their IF are misleading and not trustable.
It seems as though journals with a long history and no publicaion fees attached are considered less predatory than those which demand huge publications fees for open access. I am not sure if I can even make such a pronoucement without having some measure of empirical evidence. The Beall's List of suspected predatory journals has faced challenges by some journals for being identified as "suspected predatory" and the list has for some reason has not been updated (https://debunkingdenialism.com/2017/01/16/what-happened-to-jeffrey-bealls-list-of-allegedly-predatory-publishers/). One thing for certain, predatory or not predatory there may be some academic advancement associated with having publication numbers ,researchgate score and google scholar scores which are independent of whether you publish in a predatory or non-predatory journal. The question begs, how valauble are researchgate scores and google scholar scores as metrics of evalution of how good a scholar you are in the reality of publications done solely in predatory journals?
